Terms of Service

Your account

You need an account to use OneKite. Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

What you can and cannot point a code at

You own the content you create with OneKite, including your codes, their destinations and your pages. You grant us only the permission needed to host and serve them.

You must not use OneKite to:

• link to malware, phishing pages, or anything designed to deceive people into giving up credentials or money;
• distribute illegal content, or content you have no right to distribute;
• impersonate another person or organisation;
• place a code in a physical location in a way designed to mislead — for example covering someone else’s code to intercept their customers;
• attempt to disrupt the service, bypass rate limits, or access accounts that are not yours.

We may suspend or remove a code or an account that breaches these terms. Where a QR code is being used to defraud people, we will act immediately and without notice — the harm is to members of the public who scanned something they had no reason to distrust.

Dynamic codes, printing, and what happens if you stop paying

This is the most important section in these terms. Please read it before you print anything.

A dynamic QR code encodes a OneKite address, not your destination. That is what lets you change where it points after it is printed. It also means the code depends on OneKite to keep working.

• If you delete a code, or delete your account, — that code stops resolving immediately. Anything already printed will no longer work. This is permanent and we cannot reverse it.
• If your paid plan lapses, — we will not switch your existing codes off without warning. We will email you first and allow a grace period, because a code you have printed onto physical objects is not something you can withdraw at short notice.
• Static codes do not depend on us. — They encode your destination directly. If you need a code that keeps working regardless of your relationship with OneKite, use a static one.

Plans and payment

Paid plans are charged in advance. Monthly plans renew each month until you cancel; cancelling stops the next charge and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. A lifetime plan is a one-off payment for continued access to the features included in it at the time of purchase, for as long as OneKite operates the service.

We may change our prices, but not the price of a plan you have already bought for the period you have already paid for. We will give reasonable notice of any change affecting a renewal.

Availability

We work hard to keep the scan path available — it is the part of the service that people who are not our customers depend on. We cannot promise uninterrupted service, and we do not guarantee that scan analytics will capture every single scan; a scan always takes priority over recording it.

Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law. If we close your account without cause, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.

Liability

OneKite is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including the cost of reprinting materials. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Which language version applies

These terms are published in English and Hindi. The two are intended to say the same thing. If they ever differ, the English version is the one that applies — a translation should not quietly change what either of us has agreed to.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms materially we will email you before the change takes effect. If you do not agree, you may close your account.
